The Graduate University for Advanced Studies founded in October 1988, was the 96th national university in Japan. Known as Sokendai, it is the first university to exclusively offer doctoral programs in Japan. Utilizing Inter-University Research Institutes, Sokendai aims to foster creative international researchers with wide-ranging vision who are capable to cross conventional academic boundaries to pioneer and develop original academic research. The High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) has one school, School of High Energy Accelerator Science, which is consisted of three departments of Accelerator Science, Materials Structure Science and Particle and Nuclear Physics. These departments work closely together, using KEK research activities as a basis for graduate education.

Mini-workshop on the research activities of Department of Accelerator Science

The mini-workshop of the research activities of department of accelerator science was held on Dec. 16, 2014. After the self-introduction of the participants, SOKENDAI students made presentations about their research activities. Research or life environments of SOKENDAI students were also discussed after the presentations. Since this was the good opportunity for the mutual understanding between students and supervisors, we will hold such mini-workshop regularly.
